How do I book a massage with you?

The preferred method for booking appointments is using the online scheduling software.  Simply click the “Book Online Now” button at the top of every page of this website, or on the BODHI Massage Therapy Facebook page.  You can also call and text me at 612-454-0260, but appointments are not guaranteed until you have it confirmed with a return phone call or text message from me.  Since I am a single person operation and may potentially be in sessions most of the day, I am not able to answer all phone calls and return messages until I have time available, which may be several hours later, so please consider  using the easiest option of checking available times and booking online.

Do you accept walk-in appointments?

At this time, I do not accept walk-in appointments.  I am only at the service location during times when appointments are scheduled.  You can schedule appointments online up to 2 hours before the scheduled session time.  This will guarantee I receive your appointment schedule and have ample time to meet you at the salon during my available times: Monday/Tuesday 12pm - 9pm, Thursday/Friday 1pm - 5:30pm, and Saturday 1pm - 4pm.  I do not take appointments on Wednesday or Sunday.

What are the benefits of massage?

Massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure.  Massage is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and depression, and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?

Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before we begin your session I ask general health questions. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

What should I expect from my first massage?

When you arrive for your initial appointment I will ask you to fill out a Client Intake Form, which will ask some general questions about you and your health history, since there are some conditions for which massage is not appropriate. After familiarizing myself with you, we will discuss any specific areas you would like me to focus.

I will leave you in privacy to undress. You will relax on a soft, fleece padded table designed for stability and comfort, and be  completely covered, except for the area being worked on. When you are ready, I will return and make sure you are comfortable, placing cushions under your knees or ankles, if you would like.  The room will be warm and quiet, with soft music to set a relaxing mood.

During the massage, I will use a lubricant or scented oil, and will begin with relatively gentle pressure to calm your nervous system and begin relaxing you. Gradually, I will work more deeply to address specific areas. During the massage I may move your arm or leg to facilitate the massage. You should try to relax, let go, and allow me to do all the work. Only the part that is being worked on is uncovered, and your modesty is always maintained. Always let me know if anything is uncomfortable or irritating.

When the massage is over, I will leave the room so you may get dressed and wait for you in the common area so that we can get you on your way.

Will I have to get undressed?

No, it is not required that you completely undress. However, to derive the highest benefits of a massage, the client should be disrobed to allow the therapist to employ techniques without the disruption which clothing causes.  Many techniques are most effective when performed directly to the body. I will leave the room while you undress, get comfortable on the massage table and cover yourself with the sheet or blanket. I operate under high professional standards.  Only the specific area being massaged will be uncovered.

I will work to give you the best massage no matter what you are wearing. You disrobe to the degree YOU decide for your  massage.

What should I do during my massage?

Do not hesitate to ask questions or give feedback at any time, but you are not expected to do anything during your session.  You are paying for a service for the purpose of relaxation and I encourage you to simply let everything go and be comfortable.  This is your time.

What if I fall asleep?

It is not uncommon for people to fall asleep during their massage.  It is normal, and you will be gently awoken after your session is complete.

How will I feel after my session?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage or you could suffer from a “massage headache” the following day.

Is “tipping” or a gratuity expected?

Gratuity is always at the discretion of the client and never expected.  While tipping is not required, it is most welcome if you enjoyed your massage.

What methods of payment are accepted?

For your convenience, I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards, as well as cash payments.  I’m sorry, but personal checks are not accepted.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I am not able to bill insurance companies for payment, but will be happy to give you an invoice you can submit to your health care provider if you are eligible for reimbursement.

Is Minnesota sales tax required on my massage?

Yes, at this time Minnesota views massage as a “luxury service”, so the appropriate sales tax will be applied to your total at the end of your massage session.  The current sales tax rate in Saint Paul is 7.625%.

However, if you are paying cash, I give a standing “
cash payment discount” which will lower the price of the massage to the point that the sales tax will be included in the standard hourly rate.  In other words, you will receive a 7.625% cash payment discount.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your initial appointment.

Cancellation Policy

In today’s hectic world unplanned issues come up for all of us. I recognize this fact, but respectfully request that you cancel your scheduled appointment online, or by phone or e-mail a minimum of 24 hours in advance (12 hours if scheduled online). That way I am given ample opportunity to re-book the appointment time.  If you are unable to give me 24 hours advance notice, you may be charged a percentage, up to the full price of your massage, for the failure to cancel in the preferred timeframe. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment. Massage is my livelihood, and this time has been reserved for you; please respect that.

No-shows

Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be responsible for the cost of the “full” session.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened. Depending upon how late you arrive, I will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the cost of the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration, please plan accordingly and be on time.

Right to Refusal to Massage

Under certain medical conditions, massage/bodywork may not be advised, for example when a fever is present, infection, or skin rashes. If a massage could be potentially harmful to a client's condition, I have the right to decline to do the massage.

Sexual Misconduct

Sexual misconduct is forbidden and will not be tolerated. Any illicit or sexually aggressive remarks, advances or gestures will result in the immediate termination of the session and the client will be liable for full payment of the scheduled appointment.
